Is Wedding Bouquet Preservation Worth It? An Honest Answer

Pressed wedding bouquet preserved in a classic frame by DBANDREA

The short answer: Yes, for most couples who want a keepsake they will actually see every day. Your bouquet is the one part of your wedding you carried through every moment, and flowers are often a significant part of the wedding budget. Professional preservation turns them into lasting art for your home, something a dried bouquet in a box rarely becomes.

We have preserved more than 50,000 pieces for over 10,000 clients since 2016, so we hear this question every day. Here is the honest answer we give our own couples, including when preservation may not be the right choice.

What are you actually investing in?

When you preserve with a professional studio, you are paying for time, skill and materials that are hard to recreate at home. At DBANDREA®, every piece includes:

  • Hand pressing or drying, petal by petal. We use up to 7 different preservation methods on each bouquet, depending on the flowers and greenery.
  • Flower Restoration™. Our proprietary color restoration process has over 200 steps and can take up to 30 hours, so your flowers look as close as possible to the way they looked on your wedding day.
  • Conservation-grade materials. Our pressed pieces use 100% alpha-cellulose, acid-free and lignin-free matboards, and Classic Frames are sealed against humidity, dust and insects. Museum Glass® blocks up to 99% of UV rays.
  • A custom design. After your flowers dry, you complete a design form and a 15-minute consultation with our team to choose your layout, background and framing.

When is bouquet preservation worth it?

  • You want to see your flowers every day. A framed or resin piece lives on your wall or shelf, not in a closet.
  • Your flowers carry meaning. A grandmother's favorite bloom, a ribbon from a family heirloom, or a bouquet you designed with your florist for months.
  • Your florals were a real investment. Couples often spend $2,000 to $100,000+ on flowers for a single day. Preservation lets that investment live on for generations.
  • You want an heirloom. A well-made piece can be passed down to your children.

When might it not be worth it?

We would rather you be happy than sell you something you do not need. Professional preservation may not be worth it if you only want a few petals as a small memento, or if you love the natural, faded look of an air-dried bouquet. In those cases, drying your bouquet at home can be enough. Keep in mind that home-dried flowers usually lose color and shape. If a DIY attempt does not turn out the way you hoped, our Restoration 911™ service can often revive color and salvage blooms.

DIY vs. professional preservation

DIY at home Professional heirloom preservation
Color Fades and browns over time Color restored to look fresh, with minimal fading
Shape Petals often curl, crack or flatten unevenly Pressed petal by petal, or dried to keep a natural 3D shape
Protection Exposed to dust, humidity and insects Sealed frames or resin; optional UV-filtering glass
Design Limited to what you can do at home Custom layout with ribbons, invitations or photos
Your time Many hours, with a risk of mistakes Ship or drop off, and we handle every step

How much does it cost?

Professional preservation is priced by size, design and method. At DBANDREA®, most clients invest between $549 and $2,500+, and fully custom statement pieces range higher. You can start with a $49 engagement fee that holds your date and is fully credited toward your piece. For a full breakdown, read The True Cost of Wedding Flower Preservation.

Quick questions

Can I preserve my bouquet if my wedding was years ago?

Yes. We can create a recreation using elements of your air-dried bouquet together with professionally dried flowers, and every flower goes through our Flower Restoration™ process.

What if I do not know which piece I want yet?

That is normal. Reserve your date for $49 and our Flower Concierge will help you choose the right method and size when your flowers arrive. About 9 in 10 couples who reserve go on to complete a full piece.

Is it a good wedding gift?

It is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give. Our gift cards range from $50 to $5,000, and the couple books and works with us directly.

Which is better, pressed or resin?

It depends on how you want to display your flowers. See our side-by-side guide: Pressed vs. Resin Flower Preservation.
