On a recent episode of Bridal Club™, we spoke with Lovell Cox, founder of Lovellfaye, about her passion for transforming heirloom wedding dresses into modern, wearable works of art. From full gown redesigns to keepsake accessories, Lovell helps brides honor family legacy while creating something entirely their own.
A Lifelong Passion for Design
Lovell’s love for sewing started at age seven, taught by her mother. After interning with top NYC bridal designers, she returned to Dallas to work in custom design. Her focus on heirloom bridal redesign began when two family friends asked her to transform their mothers’ dresses - one even into pants! Videos of her work went viral, catching the attention of Good Morning America and launching a nationwide movement.
Why Choose an Heirloom Redesign?
Every wedding dress tells a story. Lovell works with brides and their families to preserve memories while creating something modern and personal. Whether it’s a full gown or select elements, her designs honor both history and sentiment.
Creative Ways to Incorporate Heirloom Dresses:
- Custom clutches from the dress fabric
- Veils or headbands with lace details
- Jewelry holders made from gown material
- Partial redesigns like a new skirt or bodice
How the Process Works
- Inquiry & Consultation: Fill out a form and schedule a virtual design consultation.
- Design Concepts: Lovell sketches 3-4 ideas tailored to your heirloom gown.
- Redesign & Fittings: Full redesigns take 3-4 months, with in-person fittings about six months before the wedding. Accessories can often be created entirely virtually.
- Final Delivery: Receive your transformed gown or keepsake accessory, plus any leftover fabric as a cherished memento.
Why Brides Should Consider It
“If you don’t wear the dress now, it might just become grandma’s wedding dress forever,” Lovell explains. Even if you don’t want to wear the full gown, accessories like a clutch or veil let you honor the dress while creating your own memories.
